CircleCI Publishes 2026 State of Software Delivery Report Analyzing 28 Million Workflows

CircleCI released the 2026 State of Software Delivery report on February 18, 2026 sponsored by Thoughtworks with authors Ron Powell and Jacob Schmitt. The analysis of 28,738,317 workflows from September 2025 showed average daily runs up 59% year over year with top 5% teams at 162% throughput growth versus median at 4%. Main branch success rates fell to 70.8% the lowest in over five years below the 90% benchmark and median recovery time rose 13% to 72 minutes. Mid-sized companies with 21-50 employees posted the lowest throughput and approximately three-hour recovery times.
