Netlify released Agent Runners on May 15, 2026, enabling users to generate a fully functional real-time AI chatbot from one prompt without backend setup or API wiring. The feature uses Netlify AI Gateway for inference, Edge Functions for streaming responses, Serverless Functions for backend logic, and managed authentication including account creation and email verification. Users start a new project on Netlify and paste a prompt like building an account-verified chatbot with streamed responses, resulting in automatic deployment of a polished demo-ready app. Netlify Agent Runners also supports post-generation iterations via additional prompts for features such as chat history or model selectors.
