Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis spoke at Google I/O 2026 on May 19, 2026 and described the current period as the foothills of the singularity. Hassabis announced Gemini for Science, a set of tools and experiments in Google Labs and Google Antigravity for scientific research. The tools aim to reimagine drug discovery with the goal of solving all disease one day.
