Palo Alto Networks Makes $700M-Class AI Bet on Portkey Gateway

Palo Alto Networks announced its intent to acquire Portkey on April 30, 2026 and integrate the AI gateway into Prisma AIRS as a unified control plane for every AI transaction. Portkey processes trillions of tokens monthly and provides runtime inspection, semantic routing, automated failovers, artifact management, caching, and granular quotas across 3,000+ LLMs. The move addresses the widening security gap as enterprises shift from copilots to autonomous agents acting as privileged insiders. Customers will gain tighter integration with Prisma AIRS while Palo Alto Networks continues supporting existing Portkey users. The deal is expected to close in Palo Alto Networks' fiscal Q4 2026.
